Gallup Poll: Biden Approval Falls Below Harris For First Time

In early December, the Gallup polling organization surveyed 800 adults on various American political figures to see where they all rank in terms of approval. The poll included names like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and Supreme Court Justice John Roberts, to name a few. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were also included, and the results were somewhat surprising. For the first time during Biden’s tenure, Harris ranks slightly higher in approval than Biden does, though not by much.

Here are the full results with Biden and the three main congressional leaders bringing up the bottom of the pack:

U.S. Leader Job Approval Ratings, 2021
Do you approve or disapprove of the way each of the following is handling their job?

It’s interesting to see John Roberts at the top of the list since he seems to receive a lot of love and hate from both political sides. Well, honestly, it’s mainly love from liberals but that might change if the court ends up overturning Roe v. Wade on the Dobbs case this spring.

For Kamala Harris to inch slightly ahead of her boss speaks to how far down the list Biden has slipped in the eyes of the general public. Note that this is a poll of “adults” which is going to typically skew to the left. Perhaps Democrats, in general, would prefer Harris to Biden at this point given how badly the White House is managing the country. Can Harris really do worse? She could do worse, of course, but since the buck doesn’t stop on her desk, she’s not taking the full brunt of the criticism yet.

Congressional leaders, of course, bring up the rear between Pelosi, McConnell, and Schumer. At least Harris can hang her hat on being slightly more approved of than the most hated people in the country.
