Joe Rogan: Democrats Need Michelle Obama to Beat Trump in 2024

Not only, says Rogan, could Michelle Obama defeat Trump, but she’s the best and only hope Democrats have in 2024. That part may be debatable, and perhaps even more debatable if she’d actually defeat Donald Trump. However, what’s most telling here is that Democrats already feel in a pinch for 2024 as the Biden-Harris administration goes down in flames.

Picture this, it’s still 2021, the midterm elections are 10 months away, and the incumbent Democratic president and vice president are being written off by their own party in favor of a former first lady. No, not that former first lady, one who’s actually fairly popular.

Here’s Rogan in his own words explaining the Michelle Obama scenario in 2024:

The only thing that could prevent such a scenario, Rogan says, is if Michelle Obama signs on to restrictive Covid measures that are shuttering businesses and crippling the country:

Though Rogan was confident the former first lady would have a 2024 run in the bag, he did say there was something that could prevent her from winning: A poorly-received response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic crisis.

“The only thing that would stop her is if she bought into some of these policies that are destroying businesses in America that are making people scared,” he explained. “If she somehow or another supported or showed any support for lockdowns and mandates and all this craziness that’s going on.”

It’s hard to see a situation where sometime in 2023 or 2024, politicians of any party are still talking about lockdowns or mandates. The Supreme Court might put an end to Biden’s federal mandate-palooza in early January by taking up the case with an emergency hearing. If the court strikes down Biden’s federal mandate on private employers, that should put the issue to bed, which would leave many Democratic governors around the country breathing a sigh of relief.

On the other hand, if the court allows Biden’s mandate to move forward, this issue will continue well into the 2022 elections as booster shot mandates become the next hot-button Covid controversy.

However, before that issue, Rogan suggests that Michelle Obama would run with Vice President Kamala Harris. That ticket seems colossally unlikely as Harris doesn’t seem like she’d be willing to play second fiddle yet again. She was given her current spot with the expectation of taking the nomination in 2024 or 2028. She’s doing her time under a boss she previously implied was racist, and she expects to be repaid by the party.

If Michelle Obama runs, she’d be better paired with someone like Pete Buttigieg or some other midwest folksy moderate option to balance things out.

The entire thing seems unlikely, though, as Michelle Obama has shown zero interest in actually running for office. She lends a hand where needed, she gave support to Biden when asked and she has spoken out for other Democratic causes.

She does not, however, seem like the type who wants to re-enter the political arena as a candidate. Her popularity would take a hit, as did Donald Trump’s in 2015 when he actually announced his candidacy. As a celebrity, which is basically what Michelle Obama is now, people care a little less about your political positions because you’re not the one shaping policy. Once you become a candidate and stake out specific policies, you’re fair game and instantly partisan.

Here’s a better scenario: Michelle Obama never runs. Kamala Harris somehow becomes the nominee in 2024 after Biden bows out for whatever reason, and Trump also passes on a run. The race turns into Kamala Harris, with Pete Buttigieg as VP, against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis with Nikki Haley as his VP. That scenario, perhaps with chairs possibly rearranged, seems more likely.

Then again, it’s 2021, we have plenty of time to come up with creative ways to imagine the failing Biden-Harris administration crippling Democrats for years to come.
