Biden’s Hot Streak: 69% Feel the Economy is Getting Worse, ABC News Poll Says

While Democrats are deluding themselves that Biden’s having his best week eva as president, voters aren’t convinced.

Story after story since last week has been about “Biden’s hot streak” or “Biden’s best week since inauguration.”

Where? Where is this fantastic Biden presidency that materialized in a matter of hours while Democrats cling and scratch for any silver lining that averts their certain doom in November?

Was it the Kansas abortion vote which kept the state’s regulations at the status quo? That result shouldn’t help them sleep at night for the midterms.

Instead, ABC/Ipsos is out with a poll today showing that over two-thirds of the country feel that the economy is continuing to get worse while Biden tap-dances at the White House:

With the midterm elections three months away, Americans maintain a sour view on the state of the economy and are pessimistic about its future course, with President Joe Biden’s approval rating across a range of issue areas continuing to suffer, according to a new ABC News/Ipsos poll.

More than two-thirds (69%) of Americans think the nation’s economy is getting worse — the highest that measure has reached since 2008, when it was 82% in an ABC News/Washington Post poll. Currently, only 12% think the economy is getting better and 18% think it is essentially staying the same.

Americans’ views of Biden’s handling of the economic recovery remain overwhelmingly negative — and are virtually unchanged from the same poll in early June, with only 37% of Americans approving of the job the president is doing and 62% disapproving in the latest ABC News/Ipsos poll, which was conducted using Ipsos’ KnowledgePanel.

Where is Biden’s “hot streak” materializing with voters? Only the DC establishment thinks Biden is somehow different today than he was two weeks ago when they were leaking their grievances to Politico about how their party is doomed.

It’s the August slump for politicians when the natural progression of uncertainty over maybe the GOP is blowing it and maybe Democrats are doing better than they seem to be on paper.

Nope, the dynamics remain the same. Democrats are still blowing it and some kind of garbage legislation called the “Inflation Reduction Act” that doesn’t actually reduce inflation is like a dishonest sideshow of political theater.

Voters didn’t turn on Biden because of bad messaging or the lack of giant spending bills from Congress, they turned on Biden because their household budgets started getting eaten alive by skyrocketing prices on essential items. Then Biden would go out and say the problem is overblown and things aren’t that bad, it’s a circle of resentment the White House keeps worsening.

Messaging will not save Biden from his own bad policies.

Abortion won’t save him or Democrats from losing the House and possibly the Senate in November. It’s the economy, stupid, and that hasn’t changed.

If the next inflation report continues to show a rising number or a record number, how will that square with spending a few more hundred billion in the name of fighting inflation?

Democrats are gambling for anything they can call a win, no matter how hollow or empty the result may be.
