The FBI “raided” and “occupied” former President Donald Trump’s winter home in Florida on Monday. Trump announced the raid just hours ago and said FBI agents “stormed” Mar-A-Lago as part of a sealed warrant.
Following standard procedure, the Justice Department has declined to comment on the raid.
Trump contends the actions are politically motivated, a scenario that seems entirely likely considering how the Justice Department and the FBI have basically become tools of the Democratic Party to inflict persecution on their political opponents:
Former President Donald Trump said in a statement Monday that his home at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, was “raided” by “a large group of FBI agents.”
Trump also claimed the presence of law enforcement was unannounced and the reason was politically motivated, though he did not provide specifics.
“These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents,” Trump said in a lengthy email statement issued by his Save America political committee.
“After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate.”
This is not something that just blows over for the country moving forward.
The ramifications could be far-reaching and related to a deep desire by Democrats, and some Republicans, like Wyoming’s Liz Cheney, to ensure Trump cannot run again in 2024.
One way to do that would be to put him under a federal felony indictment. For what crime, nobody knows right now. Could be a far-reaching grab into the sham January 6 committee or even something entirely unrelated like a tax or business deal. With a vacuum raid like this, every document and scrap of paper collected will be investigated to find something.

The situation is highly unusual and reeks of third-world banana republic kind of stuff where the sitting party in power uses tools of the government to harass and attack political opponents.
Trump is not a confirmed 2024 candidate yet, but he could be at any time. For the short of it, he’s an “assumed” candidate at this point though that holds no legal weight.
Perhaps to the contrary of preventing Trump from running in 2024, it’s possible that this kind of action by the Biden Justice Department speeds the process up.
CBS News is reporting that the raid could be related to the handling of classified materials, a rich development in light of how the Clintons kept a private email server in a Denver apartment bathroom to avoid federal oversight:
