Poll: Biden Approval Crashes, Loses 16% of Dem Voters Since April on Direction of Country

Is it worth asking whether Biden’s entire presidency may be unsalvagable? In a hypothetical scenario, where inflation remains near or breaking forty-year highs and the cost of living continues to jump over the next six to eight months. Then, at the same time, wages get eaten week to week by rising costs, can even the Supreme Court striking down Roe v. Wade energize Democrats enough to prevent an epic rout in the fall? Not if voters are looking at their wallets in disgust.

It’s in this world where Biden’s approval numbers continue to bottom out. Republicans and independents have long since abandoned this reckless and divisive administration. All that’s left are Democrats, and they’re quickly jumping ship:

Roughly two in 10 people who were polled said the U.S. is heading in the right direction or the economy is good.

Both of those figures were down from roughly three in 10 from the AP-NORC Center for Public Research’s April poll.

Drops were concentrated among Democrats, with only 33% saying the country is headed in the right direction, a 16-percentage point decrease from April.

73% of polled Democrats approved of Biden’s presidency, a major decrease from 2021 approval polls.

In one month, Biden has lost another 16% of Democrats on the question of whether the country is heading in the “right direction.” That’s an eye-popping figure demonstrating just how poorly even voters in his party think of the job Biden’s been doing.

Put into greater perspective, here are the approval numbers from the AP-NORC poll referenced above by Axios by political party:

Gruesome, but it’s going to continue getting worse. Imagine these numbers if and when gas prices reach a national average of $5 per gallon. Some are predicting gas in the $6 range in many states within a couple of months at this rate. The economy will be chewed up and grind to a halt as the cost to move goods skyrockets and people start planning their travel based on how many fill-ups they can afford.

In a word, this is a nightmare scenario for Democrats at the ballot box in November, but a far more burdensome reality for average Americans trying to live and work day to day under the crushing weight of Biden’s failed economic policies.

The price increase to a gallon of gas, like many necessities, is regressive. Those who need it the most to drive to and from work every day are often the ones that can least afford several hundred more dollars a month in fuel costs. The working-class voter stands to lose the most from Biden’s economy and a Democratic Party bent on opening the southern border to cheap labor and driving up the cost to buy everything from milk to fuel in the name of climate change.

By November, even Democratic incumbents will be running against Biden’s policies if they hope to keep a job in Congress.
