Video: Biden’s First Midterm Campaign Stop Was a Disaster in Virginia

President Biden visited the Old Dominion on Thursday to campaign with Democratic Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger of Virginia’s 7th congressional district. From the outset, with rambling answers, and an admission that the President has no idea why consumer prices are “jumping around,” the entire campaign visit was an unmitigated disaster and an example of why most House Democrats will be staying far away from Biden this election year.

Listen to this rambling answer, where Biden contends that although food and gas are “necessities,” he’s trying to bring down the cost of everything else, like child care, if everyone would just pass his Build Back Better spending bill:

In other words, sorry, America, you’ll have to eat expensive gas and food prices until we pass my bill which might help with inflation even though I don’t know why inflation is happening. What?

It continues, with Biden further explaining he doesn’t know why prices are jumping around, but again, Build Back Better will solve the problem:

The President has now admitted he doesn’t know why prices are jumping around, then explains it’s the supply chain, then explains it’s Covid, then explains it’s a shame that families have to spend all this money on essentials. Something else about running the ports 24/7, and maybe his word salad will suffice.

It’s blatantly obvious something is not right with this situation. Either the President is mentally impaired or he’s totally incompetent on the issues. That’s not a slight at his age, it’s a slight at the fact that he’s been tapped by those around him to handle the presidency, a job which is demanding and difficult even for someone who is of a more sound mind.

Biden is also unable to remember or say the name of the incumbent Democratic Congresswoman he’s there to support:

That’s Abigail Spanberger, a moderate Democrat from a swing district in central Virginia. She’s fighting an uphill battle given that her state just flipped in the governor’s race back in November and swung 10 points toward Republicans.

Something tells me that this Biden visit didn’t do much for Spanberger’s prospects or get her constituents excited that she can offer anything beyond Biden’s rambling incoherence on the issues. Why did she have Biden campaign for her? It makes no sense, he’s deeply unpopular now, even among Democrats, and no one can really point to anything he’s done that they approve of.

The main crux of Biden’s visit was to talk about lowering prescription drug prices. Well, that’s something considering that’s only one component of record inflation and skyrocketing prices hitting consumers at every angle.

Build Back Better is dead, and it’s not coming back this year, and probably never. Biden doesn’t have the votes among his own party, and no sane person in their right mind would sign on to trillions in new government spending with the highest inflation rates hitting Americans in 40 years.

What Biden is advocating here is akin to Pelosi saying of ObamaCare, “we have to pass the bill so you can find out what’s in it.”

In Biden’s mind, just passing his Build Back Better boondoggle will magically lower prices for households by providing free preschool? That’s the answer for the rest of the economy that’s on fire right now? Biden doesn’t know, this is just what his handlers told him to say.

Also on Thursday, Biden joined NBC News for a sit-down interview where he snarked at Lester Holt for daring to ask about inflation:

Don’t use my words against me, Lester, we’re playing for the same team!

Biden has derailed his presidency and the country. There’s not much he can do to fix anything right now, so questions about his inflation claims that haven’t been born out are irritating and cutting.

If House Republicans want to ensure victory in November, I think they should start inviting Biden to their campaign events around the county and let him offer up his sharp analysis of the nation’s economic woes.

The last time Biden campaigned for a Democrat in Virginia, it was Terry McAuliffe, and we know how that ended:
