Donald Trump to make presidential announcement June 16

It’s true, I’ve been forced into posting a topic on Donald Trump’s impending announcement coming June 16. He is expected, by most accounts, to announce that he is formally creating a campaign and intends to run for president seeking the Republican nomination in 2016. I’m still not entirely convinced he’s seriously in the race, but I guess I’ve already lost that debate with myself since this post exists.

Report from WATE.com:

Donald Trump says a lot of people will be very happy with his upcoming decision on whether to run for president – he’s just not ready to say what that decision will be.

The real estate mogul and reality TV star does sound dismissive about his potential rivals, describing them in remarks to The News & Observer of Raleigh, North Carolina, as “clowns.”

Trump spoke Saturday to the state Republican convention in Raleigh. He has set June 16 as the date for announcing in New York City his plans for seeking the GOP nomination for president.

Trump flirted with a presidential bid in 2012. He formed a presidential exploratory committee earlier this year, a move that allows him to raise money and hire staff as he considers the race.

In true Donald Trump fashion, the announcement will come from Trump Tower in New York City. He has a decent shot of making it into the first Republican debate on August 6, and would definitely appear at the CNN debate on September 16 given their two-tiered structure. So far though, he’s been within the top ten candidates in national polls putting him on the stage come August 6.

As noted in the story, he’s already formally created an exploratory committee, so he’s playing by election law when it comes to the process of deciding whether to run. He’s hired staff in several early states, and has the appearance of a campaign in progress. When the announcement comes on June 16, don’t say I didn’t warn you!
