Tea Party Express reminds Mitt Romney of his RomneyCare baggage

Given the anti-big government climate we’re in right now, Mitt Romney has some strengths and weaknesses in this area. He is an advocate for fiscal conservatism and smaller government, however, he cannot escape his record in Massachusetts which produced a state-level program similar to ObamaCare. Critics have dubbed Romney’s legislation as “RomneyCare.”

The Tea Party Express chair has now come out stating that they will not let Romney or voters forget that Romney oversaw the inception of a now-bankrupt program in Massachusetts which has ramifications for the national stage.

This new Public Policy Polling report comes on the heels of a PPP poll showing Mitt Romney doing remarkably well in New Hampshire. The latest PPP poll shows Sarah Palin with some support around the country in hypothetical Republican primaries.

The Hotline’s Presidential Power Rankings – First Edition

The Hotline over at the National Journal has released the first edition of presidential power rankings for a barrel of Republican candidates. Mitt Romney tops the list at number 1 followed by Tim Pawlenty, John Thune and Haley Barbour. Missing from the top 4 are names like Palin, Huckabee and Gingrich.

An email obtained by a US News and World Report blog today shows that Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels is preparing to lay the groundwork for a 2012 Presidential bid. Daniels has become somewhat of a superstar among the Republican base for his fiscal conservatism and his strong record in Indiana.

A lot of useful information was gleaned from exit polls of 2010 midterm voters earlier this week. In New Hampshire, exit polls revealed that among Republican voters former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney holds a sizable lead among other 2012 GOP contenders such as Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee.
