With regard to 2024 presidential primary polling, Trump still tops the list coming in at well over 50% support among GOP primary voters with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis running behind:

Former President Trump dominates the field of potential contenders for the 2024 Republican presidential nod, but Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is an early favorite for the nomination in the event that Trump doesn’t run again, according to a new Harvard CAPS/Harris poll shared exclusively with The Hill.

In a hypothetical eight-person GOP presidential primary, Trump holds a clear edge, garnering 57 percent support among Republican voters. DeSantis and former Vice President Mike Pence are nearly deadlocked at 12 percent and 11 percent, respectively. No other would-be candidate tested in the poll registers double-digit support.

If Trump decides not to run in 2024, then it would appear DeSantis is the next in line with the most support:

Should Trump forgo another campaign for the White House, however, DeSantis would supplant him as the frontrunner. The Florida governor scores 30 percent support in a field that doesn’t include Trump, while Pence takes second place at 24 percent.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) gets 14 percent support in such a scenario, according to the survey.

Trump continues to top the GOP primary list and his numbers have hardly waned since he left office in 2020. It would seem that at least half of Republicans are ready to give him another shot at the White House in 2024 if he chooses to run.

In the meantime, however, Trump is using his continued popularity to endorse candidates during the 2022 midterm cycle and imprint his brand on the GOP over the next year or so.

Given the issues facing the country as a result of the Biden administration’s failures, Trump has an endless buffet of topics to discuss on Saturday. In fact, Biden’s weakness over the past year is probably helping to fuel further speculation that Trump could run in 2024 given the leadership vacuum in the White House.

Americans know something isn’t right, and that Biden is focused on all the wrong things. Trump is sort of doing an “I told you so” tour right now which could eventually turn into a full-fledged presidential campaign just in time for 2024.
