The Ohio appearance comes after Trump’s Thursday rally in Durant, Oklahoma, and Friday rally in Mobile, Alabama, as the president ramps up his campaigning with one month remaining before the 2026 midterm elections.
Unlike the first two stops, Ohio puts Trump directly into one of the year’s important Senate races. Husted is running against Brown, who is attempting a return to the Senate two years after losing his seat to Republican Bernie Moreno.
Husted entered the Senate in 2025 after Gov. Mike DeWine appointed him to fill the seat vacated by JD Vance when Vance became vice president. Husted is now running to serve the remainder of Vance’s term.
Trump carried Ohio by roughly 11 percentage points in the 2024 presidential election, but the Husted-Brown contest has drawn national attention as Republicans work to protect their Senate majority. The latest numbers can be followed on our 2026 Senate polls page.
Saturday’s appearance also brings Trump back to familiar territory. Vandalia, located just north of Dayton, hosted Trump during his 2022 midterm campaigning and again during the 2024 presidential campaign.
The Ohio rally concludes a three-day stretch of Trump campaign appearances in Oklahoma, Alabama and Ohio as Republicans work to boost turnout during the final month of the midterm campaign.
