President Trump brought his midterm campaign swing to Ohio on Saturday night, rallying Republicans in Vandalia as Sen. Jon Husted battles former Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown in one of the country’s closely watched Senate races.
Trump spoke for roughly 90 minutes at the Butler-Vandalia Student Activity Center, where Husted, Republican gubernatorial nominee Vivek Ramaswamy and other Ohio Republicans joined him during the final month of the 2026 midterm campaign.

The Ohio stop put Trump directly into one of this year’s important Senate races. Husted is seeking to keep the seat he was appointed to in 2025 after JD Vance became vice president, while Brown is attempting a return to the Senate two years after losing his previous seat to Republican Bernie Moreno.
Trump urged Ohio Republicans to turn out for Husted and the rest of the GOP ticket, while also defending the expansion of data centers across the state. The projects have become a campaign issue amid concerns about electricity costs, farmland and the enormous amounts of power required by the facilities. Trump argued that the investments are important to America’s competition with China and said data centers should be required to cover costs associated with their power demands.
The president also campaigned for Ramaswamy, who is running against Democrat Amy Acton for governor. Ramaswamy, Moreno and Rep. Mike Turner were among the Republicans who addressed the crowd before Trump, while former NFL coach Jon Gruden appeared in support of Husted, his former University of Dayton football teammate.
Trump’s Vandalia appearance concluded a multi-day campaign swing that also included rallies in Durant, Oklahoma, and Mobile, Alabama. The Ohio stop came with just one month remaining before the 2026 midterm elections and with Republicans working to protect their congressional majorities.
