Full Video: The Oz-Fetterman Pennsylvania Senate Debate (Oct. 25)

The highly-anticipated one and only debate for the Pennsylvania Senate race took place on Tuesday between the Republican nominee Dr. Mehmet Oz, and the Democratic nominee, Lt. Gov. John Fetterman.

For a long time, Fetterman continually denied requests from Oz to debate claiming that it was unnecessary. It wasn’t until mainstream liberal media outfits like the Washington Post started coming down on him for ducking Oz that his tune eventually changed.

Here are the details on how to stream the debate online and watch it live tonight.

Due to health reasons, Fetterman will be able to read questions off a closed caption monitor, an issue that has been a point of contention throughout the debate negotiations. How things will go tonight is anyone’s guess but the fact that the race has tightened to the point where Fetterman clings to a razor-thin lead speaks to the importance of tonight’s event:

Pennsylvania Senate candidates John Fetterman and Mehmet Oz will debate Tuesday night in Harrisburg, a highly anticipated clash in a race that has seen health challenges and personal attacks, with control of Congress’ evenly divided top chamber on the line.

The debate will be hosted by Nexstar and broadcast across Pennsylvania starting at 8 p.m. ET. It follows a months-long effort by Oz to get Fetterman to agree to share the stage in the wake of Fetterman’s stroke in May, with Oz saying he sympathized with Fetterman but wanted them to face voters.

Oz previously agreed to seven other debates, according to his campaign, none of which Fetterman committed to.

On stage, Fetterman will have closed captioning, allowing him a real-time transcript to help with issues he has processing words that are spoken to him.

Two top aides attempted Monday to lower expectations for his performance, writing in a memo to reporters that debating “isn’t John’s format” and that Oz, a former surgeon and TV host, “has a huge built-in advantage.”

The fact that Fetterman even agreed to the debate demonstrates how much his standing has fallen since the early days of the race. For months now, Dr. Oz was viewed as a long shot, and Fetterman led by double-digits in most cases. Then, during September, the campaign started shifting and serious questions started bubbling up over Fetterman’s overall health and lackluster record as mayor of Braddock, Pa.

The most recent polls have Fetterman ahead by around 1 point on average, a far cry from the days of a large advantage when Dr. Oz was practically being written off as an unserious contender. While Oz has stayed laser-focused on the economy and crime, Fetterman’s support has slowly eroded to the point where the race is considered a toss up.
