Across the country this weekend, crowds gathered under the banner of the “No Kings” movement, an astroturfed protest, funded largely by George Soros, pretending to warn against authoritarianism and government overreach. On its surface, that sounds like a cause most Americans could support. However, when you examine the true message emanating from these gatherings of unwell people, it’s clear this is merely left-wing radicalism to show anger over losing to President Trump in 2024.
Many of the loudest voices claiming to oppose tyranny are the same people who cheered on lockdowns, demanded vaccine mandates, and supported government interference in families’ lives during the pandemic and beyond. The irony is rich.
Left-Wing Fascism
For years, Americans watched as left-wing leaders used the language of safety and compassion to justify sweeping control over everyday life. Entire states were locked down for months under Democratic control. Small businesses were crushed, churches were closed, and children were isolated from school and friends. Families were told who they could see, how far apart they had to stand, and even which holidays they were allowed to celebrate. There were no “No Kings” rallies pushing back on this authoritarianism.
Then came vaccine mandates. Millions were told they would lose their jobs unless they complied with government orders. Health workers, soldiers, and teachers who refused were cast aside and labeled as threats. The same people who now wave “No Kings” signs stood by as government agencies dictated medical decisions that should have been private.
And now, as debates rage over parental rights, some of those same activists are supporting laws that could strip parents of custody if they disagree with their child receiving so-called gender-affirming care. In some states, officials have even floated the idea of removing children from their homes in the name of “protecting” them. That is not compassion. It is government control in its most personal and invasive form. Again, this crowd would have no issue with that level of government intrusion.
Violence Proudly on Display
At several of the rallies, protesters carried signs calling for the death of President Trump and shouted violent slogans toward his supporters. This is the same movement that claims to stand against authoritarianism, yet it openly celebrates hatred and threats against political opponents.
The double standard could not be clearer. When conservatives peacefully objected to mandates or questioned election procedures, they were branded as extremists. Yet when left-wing demonstrators call for violence, the media shrugs it off as “mostly peaceful.”
Truly sick, sick people lost in their own hatred for fellow humanity.
Lies About Crowd Size
Beyond the sickening praise for political violence, left-wing outlets worked hard to inflate crowd sizes at various rallies. The events seemed to be a disappointment to the extent that MSNBC was forced to show old video footage from 2017.
Then there was the demographic makeup. There was no ignoring the predominantly white, older crowd turning out at these gatherings. These are 1960s radicals hoping to rekindle their political youth, glued to mainstream media stoking their worst fears.
How these types of gatherings will ever help Democrats regain some national consensus is beyond reason. A group of costume-clad people asking to be taken seriously, fearing the takeover of a fictitious “King,” looks more like a field trip of patients from a mental institution than a legitimate political movement.
