Video: Biden Pledges to Shutdown the Oil and Gas Industry

A clip worth remembering as the country careens well past the national average of $5 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline.

As liberal pundits and White House advisors attempt to explain how the President simply has no control over the price of gasoline, perhaps a reminder from Joe Biden himself running as a candidate in 2020 about how much influence he apparently thought he had at the time.

Of all the promises Biden made, most of which were nonsense or based on lies, this is one promise he kept that America is paying the price for every single day:

Did Biden really mean an end to all domestic drilling?

“No more subsidies for the fossil fuel industry. No more drilling including offshore. No ability for the oil industry to continue to drill period. It ends.”

Probably not, but can we be certain? The progressive factions of his party (read: far-left green lobby) would be happy to shut down all domestic oil drilling and force everyone to public transportation, electric vehicles, or horseback.

Little by little, this administration has led the war on the oil and gas industry, and now Putin is their favorite scapegoat but that blame can only spread so thin:

On Day One as president, Biden shut down the Keystone pipeline, sending a message of no new pipelines anywhere, period.

In the months that followed, he stopped all sales of leases to drill on federal lands or offshore, meaning zero new leases allowing oil to be brought out of the ground.

And in September, House Democrats introduced legislation to stop banks from lending money or investing capital for new or expanded fossil fuel production. That legislation hasn’t passed, but it sent a clear message. The oil industry is being shut down.

After all this, after claiming he desires to see no more domestic drilling, an end to federal leases, no more pipelines, and no more investment into oil and gas companies, he has the audacity to ask why oil companies aren’t drilling now when he snaps his fingers:

Now, as outrage over gas prices pushes Biden’s poll numbers down, the president is trying to shift the blame. He told Jimmy Kimmel last week that oil producers refuse to expand operations. “Why aren’t they drilling? Because they make more money not producing more oil.” He accused oil companies of deliberately “making things worse for American families.”

Sorry, Mr. President, that doesn’t pass the laugh test, even on late-night TV. It’s sheer demagoguery.

There’s always a boogeyman for Biden, the buck never ever stops on his desk. Never.

Remember this exchange from a debate in 2020? Biden pledged at the time to “transition” away from the oil industry, a statement few took seriously at the time:

If you ask Joe Biden, he’s doing a phenomenal job with this “incredible transition” he’s putting the country through by turning off domestic oil production and stifling investment.

Biden: “When it comes to the gas prices, we’re going through an incredible transition”

There is no blaming Putin for the Biden price hike. The price of a gallon of gasoline today stems from moves made some 17 months back when Biden first started attacking oil and gas minutes after he was inaugurated.

This report from Sky News in January of 2021, days after Biden became president, illustrates part of the source of what’s happening today as the gas pump:

No concern for the jobs lost, the lives ruined, the economy of a region destroyed, just shut it all down in the name of “climate change.”

This is a war against fossil fuels, a war that a large portion of the Democratic Party wants to fight and is willing to put the country into a recession to win.
