Gas Prices Rise for Sixth Straight Week, Almost $1 per Gallon Higher Than Last February

Remember when the White House claimed credit for a 2 cent drop in gas prices in December after prices had already risen about a buck fifty on average during Biden’s first 10 months in office? Seems like the party might’ve been a little premature to celebrate those extra pennies everyone was enjoying in their weekly budget.

In case anyone noticed, and clearly, anyone who has filled their car with gas recently has, prices have been trending up for the past six weeks and could soon be hitting record-high territory if this drift continues toward summer:

U.S. gasoline prices are up 8 cents from last week as oil continues to surge on tensions between Russia and Ukraine.

The nationwide average price for a gallon of gas increased to $3.42 on Monday, according to GasBuddy’s latest data. The national average is already up 12.3 cents compared to a month ago and 97.5 cents per gallon higher than a year ago, according to GasBuddy.

For more than a month, prices have increased each week at the pump, hitting a 7-year high last week, putting more stress on motorists across the country.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy, told FOX Business that the national average last week had the “largest weekly jump” since Feb 22. 2021, when prices jumped 10.4 cents per gallon in a week.

De Haan said that continued concerns over Russia invading Ukraine have driven up costs.

Nothing like a little Russian/Ukraine action to drive up prices globally and cause a price surge domestically at a time when the Biden administration is systematically destroying the country’s ability to drill for oil in-house.

Biden is directly to blame for the skyrocketing cost of fuel at this level. Yes, part of the price hike is driven by demand, that’s true. The rest is being driven by a White House that puts more emphasis on killing fossil fuel and driving up gas prices to make an expensive green energy policy look slightly less expensive.

Once again, this is an example of a hot-button kitchen table issue that directly affects a household budget which is being entirely ignored or downplayed by Democrats in Washington.

Naturally, Democrats are deflecting blame onto oil companies, because it’s easy to blame the evil corporations for Biden’s incompetence. Being energy independent under the Trump administration was precisely the goal to avoid situations like this where global events quickly drive up domestic energy prices.

No worries, though, our good friends in *checks notes* Iran should surely bail us out:

De Haan said that talks with Iran could eventually lead to more oil being added to the market, but ‘there’s a lot of work to do there.” If Iran and world powers can come to an agreement, though, it would “certainly would help alleviate pressure on oil,” he added.

This is what Biden has reduced us to again. We’re bargaining with Iran to help drive down our domestic gasoline costs. We saw this movie before, and it ended with Americans paying well into the four and five dollars a gallon range at times being dependent on foreign adversaries keeping the energy market stable.

Wasn’t this about the timeframe when Biden promised gas prices coming down during his CNN town hall event in October of 2021?

President Biden said during a CNN town hall Thursday night that he doesn’t envision gas prices will go down until 2022.

“I don’t see anything that’s going to significantly reduce gas prices right now,” Biden told CNN’s Anderson Cooper. “My guess is you’ll start to see gas prices come down as we get by going into the winter, I mean excuse me, into next year in 2022.

So far, the trend isn’t following Biden’s prediction, and who could’ve envisioned that doing everything possible to stunt domestic energy production would lead to such problems?
