Stacey Abrams’ Maskless School Photo Exemplifies Democrat Hypocrisy on Covid Rules

As if we needed one more glaring example of how Democrats enjoy imposing Covid restrictions and mandates on others and then explicitly not following those same restrictions and mandates themselves.

First, it was California Gov. Gavin Newsom over the past week during the Rams playoff game removing his mask many times, even for a photo-op. He held his breath, he said, which is not a technique I think I’ve read in any CDC literature for what to do when not wearing a mask in a location that requires a mask.

Late last week, current Georgia candidate for governor Stacey Abrams visited an elementary school. Keep in mind that this school, like many urban districts in Georgia, requires all students, faculty, and visitors to be fully masked at all times, with no exceptions.

Well, apparently that doesn’t apply to left-wing political candidates. It’s just one picture, you say? She removed it quickly, then put it back on, she couldn’t be this politically dumb?

Wrong, she never wore one the entire time while the children and adults around her did because they all had to per district policy:

Abrams’ team knew they screwed up, and deleted pictures as fast as they could but the evidence is out there. Democrats are getting a sick joy out of imposing needless mask mandates on children and then flouting those mandates directly in front of the children as if to say, I’m better than you!

In Loudoun County, Virginia, where rogue school boards are currently fighting to keep their mask mandates in place despite Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s order giving parents the choice to opt their children out, some school officials are threatening to arrest students for trespassing if they show up without a mask.

Too bad they don’t take sexual assault as seriously as mask violations:

To make matters worse in Virginia, several school board members from Loudoun County were pictured dining out with state representatives, not masked, of course, yet they have no issue forcing it on children:

This all brings us to the truly sick part of this debate. In recent weeks, the dam has broken, and article after article has come forth from doctors and health professionals explaining the lack of science behind forcing school-aged children to wear masks.

There is no scientific basis for it whatsoever, yet Democrats are clinging to mandatory school masks like it’s some sort of deeply held religious belief, like abortion.

Take these stories, for example, all have come out within the past two weeks in various left-leaning publications:

From Time.com, “It’s Time to End Mandatory Masks in Schools”:

Many people argue that masking is a small inconvenience for the greater good. However, masking kids is not a damage free intervention. It negatively affects learning and causes significant social and emotional harm. Masking impairs verbal and non-verbal communication between teachers and students, limits facial identification and has occasional physical side effects. Visualization of the entire face is of crucial importance to social, emotional, and speech development.

From The Atlantic, “The Case Against Masks at School”:

Many public-health experts maintain that masks worn correctly are essential to reducing the spread of COVID-19. However, there’s reason to doubt that kids can pull off mask-wearing “correctly.” We reviewed a variety of studies—some conducted by the CDC itself, some cited by the CDC as evidence of masking effectiveness in a school setting, and others touted by media to the same end—to try to find evidence that would justify the CDC’s no-end-in-sight mask guidance for the very-low-risk pediatric population, particularly post-vaccination. We came up empty-handed.

From The New York Times, “Let Kids Take Their Masks Off After the Omicron Surge”:

That’s why I believe that mandatory school masking should end when coronavirus rates return to pre-Omicron levels. I fully accept that, in future surges, masks might have to go back on, but that’s all the more reason to get them off as soon as possible, to give students some reprieve.

Otherwise, I fear that, at least in very liberal areas, a combination of extreme risk aversion and inertia means that school masking will persist indefinitely.

Why do Democrats insist on letting adults cut loose and decide when and how they want to follow their rules, but insist on making children as young as age 2 wear something that inhibits their educational development for 7 hours a day? It’s cruel, unnecessary, and starting to become a form of abuse.

The “experts” usually follow groupthink, but in this case, the group is increasingly realizing that continuing to punish kids while loosening restrictions for adults is looking more and more like a way to punish parents and children for desiring a return to normal in education.

So, in that way, thank you Stacey Abrams for helping break the stranglehold of liberal policies based on faulty “science” which insists on masking children indefinitely simply because they are too young and small to fight back.

Children always come last, according to Democrats.
