First Presidential Debate: Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 9pm et/6pm pt

Report from the Middletown Press:

Nearing their first face-off, President Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney are hunkering down for intense preparations ahead of Wednesday’s presidential debate, where the GOP nominee hopes to change the trajectory of the White House race.

Obama was huddling Monday with top advisers at a desert resort in Nevada. Romney had practice planned in Massachusetts, where he also spent most of the weekend working with his debate team. The Republican challenger was then headed to Denver, the site of the first debate, later Monday for a rally and more preparation for the high-stakes event.

Both candidates were spending the days leading up to the debate in battleground states, with Romney in Colorado and Obama in Nevada. Each had just one official event planned during his stay, but they hoped their mere presence in the states would drive local media coverage.

Obama left the lakeside resort where he is prepping for the debate briefly Sunday evening for a rally at a Las Vegas high school.

This is an exciting time in the political world that only comes around once every 4 four years. For us political junkies, it is like the Super Bowl except that it is much longer and split over 4 or 5 weeks.

  1. The REAL news about the debate is that the GOP did a blitz on Sunday interviews hyping how GREAT Romney is going to do.

Ordinarily, both sides reduce expectations, saying, “shucks, we’re gonna git killt, cuz thet other side is just too slick.”

Karl Rove has been so successful because he does things backward. For instance, instead of hitting the opposition where they’re weak, he hits them where they’re strongest, or where YOU are the weakest (eg, Swiftboating).

Oh, well, so, anyway, Christie and others are saying that Romney is going to knock your socks off. That is the REAL story this week. It’s a counter-intuitive approach, and I think the goal is to fire up the base and get them to watch (and cheer). So, no matter what objective reviewers say, the base will scream bias, because they have been programmed that Romney’s performance is stellar.

  2. Topics for discussion ideally in Presidential debates;

    Platform Essentials

Extend regular treatment to those with less than 40 FICA credits.

Direct all Payroll taxes to IRAs and MSAs.

    Extend Medicare to all citizens.

Limit Medicare premiums to no more than ones FICA check.

Means Test FICA to provide checks only to SSI qualified.

Charge public school tuition and all healthcare bills on a sliding scale according to income.

Have all property owners set their own property value at that amount they will gladly accept and should anyone pay that amount to the Register of Deeds then said property transfers after two months.

Tax one hundred percent of real estate capital gains while ending capital gains taxes on securities.

Have all public corporations pay each job a set and unchanging number of shares.

End minimum wages and union and governmental pay and benefit raises.

Repeal the Sixteenth Amendment replacing such with a ten percent Federal sales tax on internet purchases.

Prime rate should match payroll tax rate.

End net worth limits on governmental programs to encourage savings.

  3. Dear fellow American,

Sigh, As a 46 year old American that has seen many ups and downs in our Country I am very sad to inform you that our free, open, honest election process is being severely manipulated and tampered with this is “TREASONOUS” IN NATURE & must be stopped immediately!

Please pull your sponsorship from the Presidential debates immediately!!!

There is a third Party Candidate who is on the ballot in 47 States and by all rights belongs included in the Presidential debates, the owned media system is forcing, rigging and manipulating our elections.

I appeal to your sense of American duty and honor to respect our Constitution and Laws anyone found to be interrupting, manipulating, or tampering with our election process or supporting and aiding as an accomplice to this crime will be brought to justice! Third Sponsor Pulls Out of Commission on Presidential Debates

  4. Instead of “debating” — have the BO and the Mitt take an independent IQ test on National TV.

If their combined total is close to 85…have them fight it out with noises produced by whichever orifice they feel is their most potent one…and after the smell clears, declare the winner as the most productive wind and methane producer (Go Green…).

  5. I’m really disappointed Gary Johnson’s not being allowed to debate. So many Americans, myself included, would like another choice. I’m not ignorant to that he most likely would split the vote, and might anyway, but if he’s not allowed to be in the debate, he, nor any future other party candidate will have a chance.

    • Allie: That’s the thing. I am disappointed in Ron Paul for not allowing his name to be on the Libertarian ballot this year. He might have reached the 15% level, forcing the commission to allow him into the debates.

I think he thought he could beat the GOP establishment, but how could he not know that they would do anything to keep control? They have sabotaged their own candidates when they feel their power is being questioned.

We should demand that the commission allow anyone on the stage who is on enough state ballots to conceivably win.

  6. The fact of the matter is, Ron Paul and Gary Johnson are not on the ballot. Our next President is going to be Obama or Romney.
Another four years of Obama’s entitlement socialist policy is going to cripple our country and we will end up with the trouble Europe is having at the moment because of the same policy.
There is no way Romney can be as bad as Obama has been.
    My vote goes to Romney.

  7. Voting for the lesser of two evils, still gets you evil.

Has anyone noticed the Barack creature looks more and more like a chimpanzee, and the Mitt creature like a statue in Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum…and that both are liars and cheats that hate Free Americans!

So, are you going to vote for Plastic Man or Monkey Boy…hoping whichever one of these evils “wins” will destroy our Free Nation at a slower pace…?

Or, are you going to take a stand against these two anti-American subhumans, and vote your conscience instead!

Gary Johnson is THE ONLY ONE TO GET YOUR VOTE — if you are a Real American and want to save our Nation!
