The Kalispell rally is Trump’s first visit to the city, though he has campaigned elsewhere in Montana several times. The Majestic Valley Arena stop is part of a broader Republican effort to hold Montana’s western House district while national Democrats look for opportunities to expand the congressional battlefield.

Flint, a veteran and radio host, was selected to replace Zinke as the Republican nominee and is facing Forstag, a smokejumper and union leader. The two candidates are also scheduled to meet in a debate ahead of Trump’s visit.
