Report: Trump Considers December Rallies to Boost ‘Hastily Planned’ Campaign Launch

Just over a week has gone by since former President Donald Trump announced his intention to seek the White House in 2024, but you’d barely know it. The risk of announcing too early was always present yet it was decided by Trump that the move could wait no longer.

As it stands now, Trump is tentatively planning for the possibility of two rallies in December to bolster his early campaign and stay relevant heading into the holidays. Nothing is set in stone yet but reports indicate Trump would like to hold rallies alongside some TV interviews as well to keep his name at the forefront of the 2024 discussion.

While it’s extremely early to be doing any daily campaigning, rallies are Trump’s wheelhouse and would have a whole new meaning following his presidential announcement:

Trump has told aides and advisers that he’d like to do two rallies in the month of December.

“He wants to be relevant going into the holiday season but doesn’t think he can be out campaigning every day,” an adviser in Trump’s political orbit who asked to remain anonymous to speak more freely told Fox News.

A different source with knowledge of the former president’s thinking said that discussions for rallies next month are underway but that nothing’s set in stone. The source added that a couple of sit-down, on-camera media interviews are being planned.

Meanwhile, the internal Trumpworld grumbling continues that The Donald jumped the gun too early on a campaign announcement that was “hastily planned” and left supporters feeling disappointed at the optics and “underwhelming” delivery:

Another source in Trump world argued that this month’s announcement was “hastily planned” and that “there’s nothing going on.” The source told Fox News that “to say that there’s disappointment in the launch by people that support the president is an understatement. It was very underwhelming.”

Unlike his campaign launch for his 2016 run for the White House — he quickly made stops in the early voting primary and caucus states after declaring his candidacy in June 2015 — this time around, Trump has yet to follow up his Nov. 15 announcement with any campaign-style events.

In a way, the underwhelming nature of an early announcement is unavoidable. Announcing before the new year means most people are still focused on holidays and travel rather than politics. A lot of people just need a break from the ongoing never-ending campaign cycle we live in now.

Judging by the response, Trump failed to achieve his objective which was to scare off other Republicans from potentially challenging him for the 2024 GOP nomination. With a campaign launch described internally as “underwhelming,” it’s debatable whether more rallies in the short-term would be beneficial rather than waiting for a massive campaign tour kickoff in the new year.

Either way, keep your eye on the Trump rally schedule for details as they become available if there are December Trump rallies on the horizon.
