Yesterday’s events were tragic and heartbreaking.
Political violence, which is only coming from one direction, has no place in a civilized society. As we mark the 250th anniversary of America next year, there is something desperately wrong with demonizing political opponents to the point of dehumanizing them.
Charlie Kirk was a force for good in America, a force for faith, family, and tradition. He offered a beacon of fresh ideas to younger generations, who are too often spoon-fed liberal indoctrination on college campuses. He challenged them, made them think, and pushed them to defend their beliefs.
In many cases, he persuaded them that his view was better, and that is what made him so dangerous to the left-wing policies he fought against. A lot of people hold similar views to Charlie, myself included, but most of us do not have the God-given talent that he did. Most of us will never reach the number of people that Charlie did for the conservative cause.
And his faith. Charlie was bold with his faith, making it a part of his mission. It is difficult to change one’s perspective on politics without changing one’s perspective on the universe. He did not shy away from intertwining his faith in Christ with his politics, and that is what made him such a powerful force on the right.
Charlie Kirk, we will miss you. Your legacy will live on, and your message will get louder and travel further now than before. Our prayers are with Kirk’s wife, Erika, and their two children.
Here is a short tribute to Kirk from Megyn Kelly this morning. She was supposed to be joining him in just a few days at an upcoming Turning Point college event at Virginia Tech.
