Fresh off a campaign speech in Alabama on Friday, former President Donald Trump delivered a speech on Saturday evening at the South Carolina Republican Party Silver Elephant Gala in Columbia.
The Silver Elephant Gala is the premier annual fundraising event for the South Carolina GOP and one of the longest-running political events held in the state. Trump was joined by several local elected officials as well.

As far as polling goes, Trump is still by and away the favorite in the Palmetto State, according to Fox Business:
Former President Donald Trump won the 2016 South Carolina Republican primary by 10 points and could be primed to crush those results in 2024.
A new Fox Business poll on the GOP nomination race shows Trump with a 34-point lead in the Palmetto State, as over half believe he’s the candidate most likely to defeat President Biden.
The new poll, released Sunday, finds almost half of South Carolina likely Republican primary voters backing Trump in the 2024 primary contest (48%). That number is slightly larger (51%) among those who say they will definitely vote in the February 24 primary.
Lagging far behind is former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley at 14%, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at 13%, and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott at 10%. No other candidate reaches double-digit support.
It’s worth noting that neither Nikki Haley nor Tim Scott, both South Carolina natives, are laying a finger on Trump in terms of support. Ron DeSantis, however, seems to be suffering worse in the state coming up in third place behind Haley.
The polling average in South Carolina finds Trump with nearly a 20-point lead over DeSantis, his closest rival. Trump’s appearance tonight will come about a month after he held an Independence Day rally in Pickens, S.C. which was attended by tens of thousands of supporters.
