The rally puts Trump in the Cincinnati media market at a time when Kentucky has an open U.S. Senate race and several congressional contests on the ballot. Republican Andy Barr and Democrat Charles Booker are competing to succeed retiring Sen. Mitch McConnell, while voters in northern Kentucky are also following the race for the state’s 4th Congressional District.
Local officials are preparing for heavy traffic around Northern Kentucky University and Truist Arena throughout the day. Highland Heights police have warned of possible road closures and significant delays in the area surrounding the campus, with the heaviest traffic expected between late morning and mid-afternoon.
Saturday’s appearance continues Trump’s aggressive October campaign schedule, which has taken him through states including Ohio, Tennessee, Alaska, Arizona, Montana and Georgia. The strategy has focused heavily on turning out Republican voters in areas where Trump remains popular as the party tries to protect its congressional majorities.
