Liz Cheney Was Another Swamp Creature With Trump Derangement Syndrome

Rep. Liz Cheney went down in brutal defeat Tuesday at the hands of Wyoming voters who decided they wanted to have better representation in Congress.

For Cheney, the race became personal, a vendetta against former President Donald Trump and literally nothing else. Could Cheney not see the issues swirling around her, that voters wanted to know how she planned to attack inflation, hold the bureaucracy accountable, and restore law and order around the country? What was Liz Cheney’s view on the border crisis? We don’t know because those are not issues she tended to care much about.

For Cheney, it was a single-issue race from the day she voted to impeach Trump back in January of 2021. There is nothing else that comes close to her personal angst against Trump and it was visible Tuesday night in her concession speech where she barely conceded and then compared herself to former Republican presidents Lincoln and Grant.

In other words, in Cheney’s mind, she lost this small battle for a Wyoming congressional seat but she intends to somehow win the war against Donald Trump.

This brings us to another question. What about the people of Wyoming? Do they matter to Liz Cheney? Apparently not since they voted in 2020 for Donald Trump by a whopping 70% yet in Cheney’s mind, they’re the morons.

It wasn’t Donald Trump that defeated Liz Cheney in Wyoming. It was Liz Cheney that defeated herself by letting herself get devoured by the swamp. Once it was clear she was getting more TV bookings, social media likes, and kudos from the DC elite if she attacked Trump and attacked all things MAGA, she found her new gig. The confining walls of being the lone representative from Wyoming were too restrictive.

In many ways, it seems like Liz Cheney wanted desperately to lose her Wyoming seat to open the door for greater things. Being tied to the hicks and yokels out west that still love Donald Trump probably sickened her personally anyway which is why she ignored every major issue in favor of focusing exclusively on a destroy-Trump rampage for well over a year now.

The irony is that it’s Cheney who ended up being destroyed politically due to her single-minded focus and letting Trump live rent-free in her head on a daily basis.

There are greater issues in the world facing voters than something Donald Trump said on Truth Social, but Cheney can never understand that. She’s stuck in the trap of taking Trump literally but not seriously. On the other hand, most Trump voters regard the former president as a serious force and one who supports and pushes policies that are good for the country, but every utterance from his mouth isn’t to be taken literally.

When asked after her defeat what her plans are, it’s more of the same-old Trump hatred that drove Cheney’s career into the ground in the first place:

Rep. Liz Cheney, former President Donald Trump’s most prominent Republican critic, said she’s considering a presidential run, hours after her stinging defeat in her GOP primary in Wyoming.

A 2024 campaign “is something I’m thinking about and I’ll make a decision in the coming months,” Cheney told NBC’s “Today” on Wednesday morning.

In the meantime, the three-term House lawmaker and vice chair of the Jan. 6 committee, said she is focused on “doing whatever it takes to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office,” she said.

It’s a delusion. It’s Trump-derangement syndrome, call it whatever you want, but it typically ends with the person suffering from the affliction losing their own mind and career rather than having any effect on Donald Trump.

Cheney is another scalp in the trophy case of turncoat Republicans that would rather ride with Democrats than listen to their own voters.

If her last name wasn’t Cheney, she’d already be forgotten. Thanks to Dad’s fame within the GOP as a former vice president, Liz Cheney will get more attention to keep her self-delusion growing.
