The Freedom Convoy protest calling for an end to Covid restrictions and mandates in Canada seems to be heading for a climactic end in Ottowa. The Canadian government has now cordoned off the area around the convoy, kicked the media out, and is beginning to systematically arrest and remove protestors individually.
The only reason to remove media access, of course, is because the resulting images of Canada’s so-called democratic government about to forcibly remove citizens from exercising their right to protest could get ugly:
Police began arresting protesters and towing away trucks Friday in a bid to break the three-week, traffic-snarling siege of Canada’s capital by hundreds of truckers angry over the country’s COVID-19 restrictions.
In an operation that unfolded slowly and methodically in the morning, officers were seen going door to door along a line of trucks, campers and other vehicles parked on Ottawa’s snow-covered streets.
Some protesters surrendered and were taken into custody, police said. Some were led away in handcuffs. One person being taken away carried a sign that read “Mandate Freedom.”
Many of the truckers remained defiant.
According to journalists on the ground in Ottowa, access is now being limited to the area and anyone with a camera is being asked to leave:

So, now Canada is threatening to arrest journalists attempting to provide coverage of the arrests being made of protestors. What country has Canada become?
Canada has essentially banned peaceful protesting and also banned financially supporting a political cause you believe in. Sending money to the trucker convoy could get your bank account frozen or spark interest as “terrorist activity” by the Canadian and American governments.
The entire ordeal serves as a grim reminder that Canadian citizens do not get the same protections afforded under the United States Constitution to American citizens. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has demonized his fellow countrymen as terrorists and white supremacists, though nothing could be further from the truth.
Why did Canada go to such great lengths in this case rather than simply capitulate with some minor concessions to Covid regulations? Authoritarian socialists require absolute submission, no exceptions. Any challenge to the state, even if the challenge is simply citizens demanding their own medical freedom, must be quelled and destroyed.
Two weeks to flatten the curve in March of 2020 has turned into nearly two years of governments using emergency powers to stifle dissent and steal individual rights. Trudeau and other modern socialists lack the understanding that in a free society, not everyone will agree and not everyone will submit to intrusive government mandates.
It’s the same reason why any country getting to 100% vaccination, short of a mandate-by-force, is impossible. Canada used to be the “peaceful and quiet” neighbor to the north.
Over the past few weeks, it’s become a symbol of eroding liberty in the western world based on absolute dedication to the religion of Covid.
