This should help the media and Democrats keep Biden’s border crisis quietly swept away from the front page news, right? Sarcasm aside, what a wonderful idea from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott! Let Biden deal with the issue right on his doorstep and make Democratic members of Congress who support full-fledged open borders and amnesty start housing new illegal immigrants right in their Congressional offices! File them right into the Congressional dining hall. Oops, do they all have their Covid-19 vaccines? Probably not.
The politics of this move are serene and speak to how dire the situation will surely become in Texas if the Biden administration moves ahead with rescinding Title 42, the public health order which currently allows for swift deportation of illegal immigrants:
“To help local officials whose communities are being overwhelmed by hordes of illegal immigrants who are being dropped off by the Biden administration, Texas is providing charter buses to send these illegal immigrants who have been dropped off by the Biden administration to Washington D.C.,” Abbott said.”We are sending them to the United States Capitol where the Biden administration will be able to more immediately address the needs of the people that they are allowing to come across our border.”
Abbott said the first drop-off location of the buses will be at the steps of the U.S. Capitol.
Texas Division of Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd said the state will have over 900 buses for this operation.
From the sounds of it, Abbott may very well be serious. The trip to DC for newly arrived illegals is optional, of course, since states don’t have the same power as the federal government to enforce immigration law or detain people based on immigration status. The kicker is that plenty of new arrivals might actually take the trip and enjoy a one-way free ticket to the nation’s capital.
The crazy thing here is that Abbott, a deep-red Texas Republican is not alone in his criticism of Biden’s border policies. Handfuls of Democrats, mostly the ones up for re-election this year, are getting nervous that Biden’s border crisis is about to explode into a full-blown humanitarian and political disaster within weeks:

Tester is exactly correct, ending Title 42, the only shred of deterrence the Biden administration currently has will assuredly create a new flood of illegals into an already tapped and overwhelmed system.
Democratic Senators Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema, from the border state of Arizona, have also opposed Biden’s border policy change:

That’s three Democratic Senators who agree that Biden’s bumbling border incompetence will be a killer to the already overwhelmed border patrol. The system simply cannot sustain the influx of people.
It’s all but assured that even Democrats who oppose Biden’s ending of Title 42 will claim Abbott’s move to bus illegals to Washington is a political stunt. The issue here is that border governors are simply at their wit’s end with this problem. They can’t do much about it since this is a federal issue. Other than creating publicity and generating news headlines that will put pressure on the feds, what more can they do?
Will Abbott follow through on his threat to start dropping illegals in Biden’s backyard? That remains to be seen. Let’s hope!
