More Democrats Criticize Biden Over Border Failures: ‘It Was Working Under Trump’

Day after day, as the U.S. southern border continues to be a hotbed of Biden’s failed immigration policies, more and more Democrats are feeling the burn in border states and starting to speak out against the Commander-in-Chief. The latest statement comes from Pete Saenz, the Democratic mayor from the town of Laredo, Texas. For all his previous support of Biden, Saenz is watching firsthand as the border crumbles and his part of Texas becomes unsafe and untenable for the border patrol to control.

The most stinging part of Saenz’s rebuke of Biden’s border crisis comes in his praise for President Trump’s border policies that the mayor says were previously working to control the endless flow of migrants:

“We need to truly secure the border,” Mayor Pete Saenz told the Washington Free Beacon in an interview published Thursday. “It was working under Trump, call it whatever you want to call it, but it was working.”

“The border’s not secure and hasn’t been for a while,” he said. “We can’t continue this way, and I really haven’t seen any measures yet from Washington to remedy this.”

Saenz said his city’s public services are in desperate need of relief from the federal government after being overwhelmed with providing humanitarian aid, medical services and transportation for the thousands of migrants flooding into his city.

While the bureaucrats in Washington sit in relative safety, Texans and citizens of other states are left to deal with the threat of human trafficking and cartel violence that continues to spill into the United States. Not to mention the drug trade that proceeds almost unabated thanks to Biden’s lax policies.

Democrats seem to scoff at the notion that leaving the border open will do them any harm politically, yet America just witnessed an election in 2016 where Donald Trump won with slogans like, “build the wall,” a simple reference to the lack of a physical barrier along most parts of the border. Biden is handing this issue back up to Republicans on a silver platter by not only discontinuing Trump’s policies but making it far worse and harder for the media to ignore.

Now, following the 20,000 Haitian migrants the country witnessed crossing the border back in September, another 60,000 migrants may be on their way north according to reports:

Panama’s Foreign Minister was in Washington, D.C., this week to discuss migration and security issues with U.S. federal officials.

She then went on to tell American news outlets there’s a new wave of 60,000 citizens of Haiti and other countries making their way to the U.S. border.

“We have seen the growing phenomenon of irregular migration and have gained the attention of key actors,” Erika Mouyes said in a statement released by the Foreign Ministry after her meetings with Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Special Envoy to Northern Triangle countries Ricardo Zuniga and others.

The scenes witnessed last month of migrant encampments set up in Del Rio, Texas, could pale in comparison if some 60,000 migrants now try to push forward and make a similar crossing. Does the Biden administration have a plan to deal with this? At the moment it’s not looking good.

Reports also indicate that mixed in with migrants could be individuals with terrorist ties bent on slipping into the country amid the crowds:

U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, said Mouyes also met with him and said her country has seen a huge spike in migrants passing through, from 800 a month to 20,000 a month recently. He says she told him some individuals with ties to Al-Qaeda intent on traveling to the United States were apprehended in Panama.

Slowly and slowly Democrats are starting to figure out that Latinos in Texas do not respond to the same messages as Latinos in other parts of the country. Read this piece from Texas Monthly to get a better idea of why President Trump did so well in some parts of the state which had previously gone blue.

For the time being, border states seem to be on their own with no help or support from the Biden administration which is too busy attacking its own Border Patrol.
